Popsicolor

This week ive been totally hooked by the new Popsicolor iPhone app that takes you photos and turns them into fruit coloured watercolours.

Simple, high-contrast things with plain backgrounds work the best, and it's a great new way to look at even the most ordinary things.

Happy midsommer

After my 4th midsummer in Sweden I've learned a few things about this special day here.
  1. People who haven't lived in Sweden for several years won't get it.
  2. There are always new kinds of Sild to discover.
  3. Not to be surprised when they bring out the strawberry sponge cake, because they have it every year :)
  4. It will probably rain despite your best intentions for outdoor games and barbecues.
  5. Even though this is my best chance to see the sunrise, I'll never stay up late enough to see it, (but this year was the closest!)

But despite the weather this year was definitely one of the best...with some of the best ribs ever!

When I was doing my last '365' I used Instagram more for the effects than the social feed, but now that I'm finding more friends there I'm using it a lot more. Besides I think it's way better for seeing what people are up to than 147 characters.

Learning Parallel Compression

Tonight on our Weekly Tuesday night music session, we learned how to use Parallel Compression, (often known as New York Compression) to fatten up the snare and bass drum on the drumtrack we recorded two weeks ago.

...It certain feels like a kick in the teeth now :)

Evening walk in Slottsskogskolonin

Tonight we learned not to visit Slottsskogskolonin after 9am because you might get locked in...with these long mid-summer nights it's so easy to lose track of time.

About this blog

I'd wanted to do a new blog for a while since my last blog lo-fi365.com imploded last November after posting an iPhone image every day for around 15 months.

The problem was, I do so many different things...playing drums, music production, yoga, analogue and digital photography, it was impossible to give so much blogging commitment to just one thing, especially when different things inspire me in different ways at different times.

Of course I wanted to find a hook for my blog.  I considered "posting something creative everyday", but from two previous 365 projects I knew that kind of pressure was bound to lead to failure, so instead you'll just have to settle for me posting something most of the time!
